November 07, 2022
Napa, California -- The V Foundation for Cancer Research has announced the 2nd Annual Sonoma Epicurean weekend, to be held March 9 - 12, 2023, in Sonoma County’s renowned wine country. Sonoma Epicurean, recently named the “Best Fundraiser Weekend” by San Francisco Magazine’s “Best of the Bay,” is a signature series of events featuring curated and hands-on experiences with award-winning chefs, local artisans, and world-class vintners, focusing on lifestyle, wellness, and sustainability. Proceeds from the event will fund cancer research and related programs to benefit the V Foundation for Cancer Research.

The weekend kicks off on Thursday, March 9 with the Epicurean Winery Dinners, with Northern California’s finest chefs including:
  • Charlie Palmer of Dry Creek Kitchen and Hotel Healdsburg
  • Robert Leva of Mayacama
  • Dustin Valette of Valette and The Matheson
  • Jason Pringle of Montage Healdsburg

Each chef will create a menu perfectly paired with wines from top Sonoma County vintners, including Benovia Winery, Bricoleur Vineyards, Chalk Hill Estate Winery, and Verité. Thursday’s festivities conclude with the Epic After Party on Roof 106 at The Matheson.

Friday, March 10 features the Artisan Series, where guests will have their choice of a variety of fully immersive experiences including:
  • James Beard Award Winner Charlie Palmer at Wing & Barrel Ranch
  • Sony’s ‘Artisan of Imagery’ photographer Andy Katz at Aperture Cellars
  • Chef-owner Dustin Valette at The Matheson
  • Golfing at world-class Mayacama
  • The Art of Blending with BACA winemaker Alison Frichtl Hollister
  • In the Vineyard with Ames Morison of Medlock Ames

Friday culminates with the Epic Party at Mayacama, where the world’s most notable vintners will pour their wines alongside the gourmet delights from award-winning chefs.

Saturday’s agenda includes the Food as Medicine Breakfast and EpiCUREean Symposium, where scientists and researchers will engage guests in an enlightening discussion on resistance to therapies, which is a major cause of cancer treatment failure. Doctors will highlight advances in treatments but also the challenges in meeting cancer resistance head-on.

The main event on Saturday evening is the Epic Feast & Auction at wine country’s premium destination, Montage Healdsburg. Guests will gather for the pinnacle event of the Sonoma Epicurean series at a seated multi-course food and wine-paired feast prepared by Executive Chef Jason Pringle, featuring auctioneer and Emmy Award winning radio & TV personality Liam Mayclem.

“We are so very happy to gather together next spring in Sonoma’s wine country for this important benefit weekend,” stated Stuart Bryan, Chair of Sonoma Epicurean. “Not only will we be raising significate funds for the fight against cancer, the Sonoma Epicurean weekend gives us the opportunity to share important information on the vital work the V Foundation is doing to accelerate victory over cancer.”

The V Foundation’s wine country events have raised over $137 million for cancer research over the last 24 years. The V Foundation for Cancer Research has funded nearly $290 million in cancer research grants nationwide.
