Event Description:

The traditional boundaries between Art and Design are dissolving. Today, artists and architects are collaborating in new ways, as art is expanding beyond the traditional gallery and museums and into public spaces, airports, parks, transportation centers and hotels ... almost everywhere.

Art has a rich tradition of breaking out of the box here in the area. Think of Christo’s Running Fence in 1976, and Ai Wei Wei’s @Large show on Alcatraz Island in 2014. Other examples run the gamut from the annual Burning Man event to Oliver Ranch in Geyserville.

This first in a series of Elevated Talks kicks off with a group of prominent regional artists and architects with international renown and a connection to Healdsburg. Moderated by acclaimed Los Angeles-based architect Julie Eizenberg, speakers include architect David Baker who’s firm designed the architecture and interiors of Harmon Guest House, landscape architect Andrea Cochran, artist and architect Johanna Grawunder, kenetic sculptor Ned Khan and art consultant Svea Lin Sol. They’ll be sharing their work and insights about the interplay between art and architecture, and whether context counts in the art and design process.

After the presentation and discussion, guests can continue the conversation at a cocktails and hors d’oeuvres reception at The Rooftop bar.
