Dave Holland Solo & Duo & Trio

We present this very special concert produced by Healdsburg Jazz's Founder Jessica Felix, showcasing multi-Grammy Award-winning bassist-composer Dave Holland and his commitment to creating consistently innovative music across a range of styles including solo bass, duo with guitarist Kevin Eubanks, and trio with fellow NEA Jazz Master pianist Kenny Barron and extraordinary drummer Johnathan Blake. The evening will include Holland performing a bass solo, a format he embraced as far back as the EMC releases Emerald Tears (1977) and Life Cycle (1982) and as recently as a 2019 tour. The first set will include a reunion with guitarist Kevin Eubanks, the former "Tonight Show" bandleader with whom Holland has collaborated extensively in recent years. The second part of the evening features a trio set with fellow NEA Jazz Master Kenny Barron (piano) and Johnathan Blake (drums). Holland and Barron have recorded together several times, including Scratch (1985), The Art of Conversation (2014), a mix of standards and original compositions awarded Record of the Year honors from the Jazz Journalists Association. Their most recent collaboration, Without Deception (2020), is an intimate and adventurous trio debut recording featuring masterful rhythmic drummer, Johnathan Blake adding a deft rhythmic touch.
