Name: Art Exhibit: People Who Need People
Date: July 26, 2021 - August 29, 2021
Event Description:
Sonoma County artist, Tosya Shore, presents People Who Need People, a collection of watercolor paintings that capture people with people, whether they are strangers passing on the street or couples relaxing together. Shore’s colorful renditions are vibrant images that bring life to the scenes. At a time when the world is reconnecting, these works take on a special meaning. “Rainy Days and Sun Days” highlights the joys of mixing with the world in an exciting city scene. “This last year made us acutely aware that people need people; we need each other as we were kept apart so long,” commented Shore. Each piece poignantly captures vignettes depicting these human connections that are so important to our lives today. Northern Californian born and raised, Shore has been working in watercolor for the past twenty years. She studied with leading artists to master this challenging medium and develop her uniquely colorful style. Recently joining the Upstairs Art Gallery, Shore has exhibited throughout the region. The Staircase Showcase features Victoria Kochergin’s Nature’s Magnificance a collection of colored pencil botanicals, each capturing a moment in time in exquisite detail. “Whether it is a leaf browning, a bug eaten petal, a twist in a stem, a different vein pattern, all I feel are important for that botanical’s story,” commented the artist. Focusing on these details keeps Kochergin invigorated during the many hours it takes to complete a piece and inspires her to start the next one. Kochergin exhibits widely, both regionally and internationally, and is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and the Northern Society of Botanical Artists.
